Infusion Emporium 9 took place on the weekend of 1-3 November 2019. Our star teachers were Kami Liddle, April Rose and Vesna Zorman.
In the week running up to IE we had Kami Liddle teaching her Krysalis: Invocation programme. Participants were treated to across the floor drills of contemporary dance technique fused with bellydance principals, choreography and insight into creating contemporary fusion bellydance.
Our theatre show at Newhampton Arts Centre was a huge success and showcased performers from over 15 different countries. A variety of styles were presented, from Oriental to contemporary fusion. Videos will follow on our YouTube page in the new year.
The show got rave reviews from attendees:
– “The theatre show was excellent. So much representation, such diversity of styles. High quality. One of the best shows I’ve attended”.
The weekend wouldn’t be complete without our Glitterball Shakedown after party which was better than ever. We had dancers from all over the world sharing their talent on stage, as well as some excellent fancy dress for our 80’s theme (check out 11:11 over here!). What’s more, we worked with Dead Pixels to bring retro gaming to the event, setting up consoles where you could play everything from Bubble Bobble to Street Fighter, Mario Kart to Sonic 2, Pacman to Galaga. All in all a great night that we wished could have never ended!
Big thanks to everyone who attended IE and made it such a memorable year!
But it didn’t stop there! We rounded off the weekend with a two day intensive with April Rose, bringing her Bellydance Cohesion programme to Europe for the first time with IE. We hosted the Stage 1 Enrichment Course, which focused on developing a drills practice, Middle Eastern music and rhythms played on the drum, and bellydance history. Sharing her research and discoveries with us, the course was an excellent study for those interested in Bellydance of all styles. We hope we can have April back in the future to share more of her extensive knowledge with us!
